Empower new and emerging socially disadvantaged producers to efficiently and effectively operate their farm enterprises for long term sustainability.
Targeted Groups
- Beginning Farmers and Rancher- an individual or entity that has not farmed or ranched for 10+ years
- Socially Disadvantaged Producer - An individual who belongs to a group whose members have been subject to racial or ethnic prejudice
- Limited Resource Producer - a producer with both: direct or indirect gross farm sales not more than $100,000 in both of the previous 2 years (as adjusted for inflation by the NASS) AND total household income at or below the national poverty level for a family of 4, or less than 50 percent of county median household income in both of the previous 2 years, as defined by the Commerce Department.
